Officers were called to investigate a report of a shooting incident involving students at the Villas at Butler apartments at about 1 a.m. this morning.
One student was treated and released for a gun shot wound to the leg stemming from an on-going altercation between two groups of young people, according to Police Chief Tom Boren.
Police officials are not releasing identities of the parties pending search and arrest warrants for material witnesses and evidence of the assault pending further investigation.
Police were also called to a related incident in a nearby residential area where a family reported their home being struck by a bullet. This is believed to be a stray bullet from the incident that occurred at the apartment complex.
El Dorado Police investigators are still on the scene and continue to develop information through questioning witnesses that will lead to the subsequent arrests involving this case.
