Ethel Simpson, of El Dorado, had one birthday wish – to go for a motorcycle ride.
So for her 94th birthday on Tuesday retired El Dorado Police Officer Ron Alvord picked Simpson up on his motorcycle and took her for a ride.
“I love it,” Simpson said. “If I was a little younger I might buy one myself.”
She said it was just like riding in the back of a car, but a little windier.
She had ridden on a motorcycle one time before when she went around the block with her stepson.
Alvord said he volunteered to take her on a ride when he got a call from the police department telling him they had a situation with which he might be able to help. Simpson’s daughter had called the police department with the request.
Alvord took her around town before stopping by the police department then going on to the El Dorado Senior Center.
“We waved at about everyone in town we saw,” Alvord said.
“There is no sense sitting around watching TV all day if you can get out and enjoy life,” Simpson said.
