Circle’s Head Coach Brian Henry returns for his seventh season as head coach for the T-Birds in the 2012-13 season.
Henry boasts a career record of 84-48 at the helm for the Thunderbirds.
Circle was 9-12 last year finishing 4th in the AVCTL Divsion 4 with a 3-7 record.
The Thunderbirds will try to return to the form that sent them to a trip to State in 2010.
The Thunderbirds had three starters from last season’s squad graduate in Ashley Frankenbery, Courtney Kifer and Josie Wright.
Though the T-Birds lost a good amount of talent and leadership, Circle returns 6 letter winners from last year’s squad.
The T-Birds have three seniors in their projected starting line up in guard Jacy Gibbs Sr. 5’6”, (4.1 ppg 3.0 rpg 1.8 spg), guard Alexis Wiebe Sr. 5’5”, (.6 ppg 1.3 rpg 1 spg) and forward Jamie Wright Sr. 5’9”, (1.8 ppg 1.8 rpg).
Lack of quality varsity level experience will be the first hurdle Circle will have to overcome on its way to a successful season.
Circle returns three more letter winners in Lexee Bruendl 5’8” Jr. Forward, Alison Kirkham 5’3” So. Guard and Allyssa Kirkham 5’3” So. Guard.
Circle will need to build upon its teamwork to mesh together the talents and abilities of players from all four classes this season.
The Thunderbirds will receive bench support from Talia Highbarger 5’5” Jr. Guard, Millie Haney 5’4” Jr. Guard, Aubrey Olson 5’4” So. Guard, Katelynn Wilson 5’5” So. Guard and Katie Frankenbery 5’6” So. Guard.
The Thunderbirds will continue to play pressure defense and look to run both man and zone defenses.
Circle will continue to use a guard oriented offense.
The Thunderbirds will begin the season December 4 when they host the T-Bird Classic with their opening game against Independent.
