Wendell Borne, age 80, of Dayton, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. A lifelong resident of Rhea County, he was born July 15, 1932 to the late James and Lottie (Ball) Borne. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, June (Cheeks) Borne; brothers, Oscar, Arthur, Gene, Robert, Bill and Monroe; and sister, Geraldine Foote.
Wendell worked as a textile dyer for the Southern Silk Mill in Spring City and was employed by the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed playing rook, fishing and hunting and was an avid Tennessee Vol fan. He was a member of Morgantown Baptist Church and attended Grace Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Godsey) Borne; sons, Rodney (Sandy) Borne of El Dorado, Jim (Linda) Borne of Dallas, Ga., and David Borne of Dayton; daughter, Donna Gail (Tommy) Ford of Clarksville, Ark.; step-children, Jimmy Wayne (Paula) Reed and Johnny Reed, both of Evensville, Diane (Keven) Brown and Tim Reed, both of Spring City; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Wendell will be held at noon Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Russell and Rev. David Hobbs officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
