William Cecil Olsen was born July 30, 1916 in Eureka and departed this life on Nov. 4, 2012, in El Dorado. Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Blankenship Cemetery in Rosalia. Cecil was the eldest child of George Monroe and Edna Josephine (Kirk) Olsen. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Clarence Olsen of Eureka. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edith Elaine (Krauss) Olsen of the home in El Dorado; one sister, Mary Olsen of Michigan; and a number of other relatives and friends. Cecil served in the United States Army as a truck driver from October 1941 through October 1945 in various locations in the Unites States, England and Europe. He attended Ivanpah County School and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cecil had witnessed the satisfaction, fulfillment and hopes his grandmother and parents enjoyed from walking in truth with the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He desired the same for himself and chose to live in fellowship with the Followers of Jesus and invest his life in laying up treasures in Heaven. Being part of God’s eternal family and having the hope and promise of the Gospel of Jesus’ truth it sustained and satisfied him to the end of his life.
