  • In September 2011, Peter Furley was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child and electronic solicitation. Three additional counts of exploitation of a child were later added.
At a hearing in September 2012, District Court Judge Charles Hart accepted Furley’s plea of no contest to one charge of attempted sexual exploitation of a child. As part of the plea agreement, the other four charges against Furley were dropped. Three of the dropped charges were the same as the one Furley pleaded no contest to, while the other one was electronic solicitation of a child.
On Nov. 1, Furley was sentenced to 24 months of probation. He will have to register as a sex offender and attend sex offender treatment.
Furley was arrested last year after El Dorado Police officers were notified by investigators in the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Exploited and Missing Child Unit that their Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce had received information from concerned individuals that alleged sexual exploitation of a minor child in an El Dorado home.
Officers acting on this information secured and executed a search warrant at an El Dorado residence in order to insure the welfare of a child.
EPD investigators subsequently arrested Furley and removed items of possible instrumentalities of the charges.
Investigators identified victims in at least two states during the investigation.
