Betty J. Burden, 84, of Leon, died Friday, Oct. 26 at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Wichita. Services were Monday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment followed in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1928 in Glencoe Township, the daughter of Charles P. and Fannie (Beers) Gray. She graduated from El Dorado High School and had taken some college hours at Butler Community College. She was a sheet metal worker for Cessna Aircraft, retiring in 1990. Betty was a member of Leon Christian Church and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
On May 22, 1949 Betty and Verling Burden were married at the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado.
Those who survive include her husband, Verling of the home; children and their spouses, Rick and Kay Burden, Rural of Leon and Marlene and Terry Glidden of Latham; grandchildren, Jennifer Moomey and Erin Johnson of El Dorado, Eric Burden of Eureka, Heather Glidden of Udall and Charles Glidden of Latham; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Charles V. Burden and Duane E. Burden.
