The City of Augusta received two awards from the Kansas Municipal Insurance Trust
During the 2012 League of Kansas Municipalities Annual Conference held in Topeka earlier this month, Augusta City Council Members from Ward 2, Mike Wallace and Mike Huddleston accepted two major awards from the Kansas Municipal Insurance Trust (KMIT) to the City of Augusta.
Augusta earned 'Gold Star' status with its loss prevention certification program, keeping losses at a minimum, and promoting lowest possible insurance problems. Augusta also was recognized for belonging to the KMIT program for 10 years.
KMIT began providing workers' compensation coverage to cities in 1994 and is dedicated to creating a safe workplace for city employees through cost effective administration, claims management and loss control services.
Also attending the conference was Augusta Mayor, Christie Williams, Ward 1 Councilman, Matt Childers and Augusta City Clerk, Erica Jones. The attendees participated in classes, forums and seminars that were designed to educate and inform city officials to new laws and avenues of abilities that cities in Kansas should be aware of for the upcoming year. The attendees also visited with vendors that were offering their goods and services to the cities throughout Kansas.
