City Council continues effort to clean up dilapidated structures in Augusta

In its continuing effort to clean up dilapidated and dangerous structures in Augusta, the governing body has set a public hearing to discuss the property at 310 E. Main St.

The hearing will be held during the city council meeting Dec. 3, 2012 at City Hall.

City Inspector Dan Allen told the council that the home was in violation of nine articles of the city's property maintenance codes. Allen said he had sent several letters to property owner Robin Yarbrough but she has "walked away from the property" and can't be located.

Allen said there was trash and debris around the house and the west side of the house is bowed out off of its foundation. There is also visible sagging in the roof.

The property could become the fourth structure removed by the city in the past few months.
