Ruby Frances Smith, 88, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Monday, Oct 22, while in the company of family members, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.
Ruby was born in Canton, Kansas on December 22, 1923, a daughter of Lydia (Oblander) and Godfrey Fred Schulz.
Ruby attended and graduated from Canton High School, Canton, Kansas in 1941. She then attended and graduated from Wichita Business College on June 23, 1942.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson, Kansas. Ruby served on the Church Council and was Church Secretary for a number of years. She was a member of W.E.L.C.A. and Miriam Guild all of the church.
Ruby was a homemaker and worked as a legal secretary for Willems and Weelborg Attorney’s at Law, McPherson. When she retired the firm was known as Weelborg, Embers, & Ferguson Chartered.
Ruby enjoyed nature, especially flowers, and her hobby of crocheting.
Ruby Frances Schulz was united in marriage to Raymond Emanuel Smith on November 18, 1945 at Durham, Kansas. He died on April 19, 2005.
She is survived by five nephews, six great-nieces, one great nephew, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, her brother George Herman Schulz, her sister Dorothy Rosalie Gard, and a great-nephew.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson. The memorial service will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, with The Reverend Tim Leaf and Reverend Chris Whitacre officiating.
