El Dorado resident Amboo Ploy announced in July he was going to have to give up his art because of vision problems, but instead he was going to focus on his music.
His plan was to create his first CD and he has seen that come to fruition.
Since he released “Music From My Face” he has sold 67 CDs. He also has been taking it to area arts and crafts shows.
He has held a CD release party and now will be selling CDs at an event at the American Legion beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
“I’m just getting out and pushing my CD,” Ploy said.
He has had people come up to him and ask him if he had a CD and then buy one. He also has heard stories such as of a man and woman who both wanted to keep the CD with them so they could listen to it.
He also has sent a copy of his CD to New York in hopes of getting it played on the Music Choice station.
To help promote his CD, Ploy is shooting a music video for his song, “Bad Habits.”
“It’s sort of a neat little thing to do,” Ploy said.
He will be shooting the video in downtown El Dorado.
It will start with a guy waking up and his head is not feeling too well and he goes down to the kitchen and has 10 cups of coffee and 13 cigarettes.
Part of it will be filmed in the alley in the 100 block of West Central.
“I love that little alley,” he said.
It also will include a shot from the American Legion on Friday evening.
“I get to put all of these shots together in my mind and put them on paper,” he said. “It’s neat learning that and figuring that out. It’s going to be a cool experience.”
