Wilma V. Young, 95, of Cassoday, died Sunday evening at Lakepoint Nursing Home. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cassoday United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Cassoday cemetery.
Wilma was born Oct. 28, 1916 in Matfield Green, the daughter of Vernie Edward and Althea Pixley Bullock. In 1936 she graduated from the Cassoday High school. On Aug. 31, 1937 she was married to Frank Young in Eureka. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1992. For more than 25 years she owned and operated the Youngs General Store. She also worked for Howard Johnson on the turnpike, the Gas Can and Cassoday Antiques. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Center. She loved to work in her garden, play pinochle, take care of the neighborhood kitties.
Surviving family include her son, Ron and wife Mary Margaret Young of Cassoday; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Vince) Travnichek, Randi (Juli) Young and Matt (Laurie) Young; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
