  • The El Dorado Wildcats volleyball team travelled to Augusta Tuesday to participate in a triangular with Rose Hill and host Augusta.
    The Lady Rockets of Rose Hill first defeated Augusta in two games going 25-20 and 25-13.
    The Lady Wildcats then took on Rose Hill and were beaten in straight sets dropping their first match going 25-18 and 25-13.
    El Dorado then took on host Augusta in the night cap in a three-set marathon match again between the two rivals, with the Wildcats coming out on top winning 25-15, 23-25 and 25-19.
    In JV volleyball action, Rose Hill defeated El Dorado 25-22, 25-13 and El Dorado defeated Augusta 25-18, 29-31, 25-23.
    The Wildcats now have their eyes set on the substate competition that takes place this Saturday within the friendly confines of El Dorado High School at Alumni Court.
    The 14-23 Wildcats come into sub-state competition as the #4 seed overall.
    El Dorado will again play familiar foe in the #5 seed Augusta Orioles.
    The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
    If El Dorado advances they will play the winner of #1 Chanute (31-1) and #8 seed Coffeyville-Field Kindley (1-25).
    The Circle Thunderbirds enter the sub-state tournament at the #3 seed boasting a 22-16 regular season record.
    The Lady Thunderbirds will face the #6 seed Iola (6-27) at 3 p.m.
    If Circle advances, they will play the winner of #2 seed Independence (18-12) and #7 seed Winfield (3-31).
