The Bluestem Middle School Cubs were able to defeat the Belle Plaine Dragons Thursday night by a score of 32-16.
The Cubs defense set the tone early in the 2nd quarter.
The Dragons used the entire first quarter to drive the ball down to within scoring distance. That was when the Cub’s defense stiffened.
The Dragons had eight plays within the ten-yard line including three from the six inch line. They were held out by the cub’s defense.
Bluestem then responding by driving the ball down the field until Dakota Clift was able to break loose and score a touchdown.
A quick three and out gave the ball back to the cubs.
Clay Hogoboom then connected with Garet Johnson for a long touchdown.
After a forced fumble and recovery Westin Scott threw a half-back pass to Dakota Clift for a score of 24-0 going into half-time.
The second half began as a stalemate until Westin Scott was able to get into the end zone one more time for the Cubs. A couple of late touchdowns by Belle Plaine made the final score 32-16.
