The El Dorado Middle School Cats cross country teams competed at the Pioneer League Division III CC Meet on Monday.

The temperature was in the mid 70s with wind gusting to 25 miles per hour from the south. Other than the wind it was a great day of racing for the Cats.

“League champions, 8th grade girls and second place winners, 8th grade boys, what a great way to end their middle school cross country season for these runners,” said coach Les Limon.

The girls’ team was made up of Jolie Howland, Lexi Bias and Madison Fletcher.

“Howland finished her race about 40 seconds ahead of the second place winner, she had a great race. The efforts of Lexi and Madison helped secure first place for the girls,” said Limon.

The boys’ team was Timothy Kemboi, Chris Rauth, Colton Studebaker and Tyler Michaelis. The medal winners were: Jolie Howland (1st place), Lexi Bias (6th place), Timothy Kemboi (3rd place) and Chris Rauth (9th place).

“In the boys’ race, Kemboi led our boys with the help of Rauth who had a PR, and Studebaker (PR’ed by 2 seconds) and Michaelis to win second place,” said Limon.

Next year, the 8th grade girls should be competitive because Grace Myers finished 4th overall in the 7th grade race and Jaden McAdoo was 7th.

McKenna Stewart and BreAnna Simmons have shown much improvement and will be even better next year.

The seventh grade boys fared well, and Tyler Luehrs showed much improvement this year and will be tough next season.

“I am pleased with all my runners for starting the season and staying out when the temperature was brutal and the workouts were not fun,” said Limon
