Kansas Gas Service will be upgrading natural gas pipelines and meters throughout the city, beginning mid-October.
The company will be making improvements to a natural gas distribution main pipeline on W. Seventh St. from Lulu to Dearborn. The project will affect both residential and commercial customers on W. Seventh, Main, Cliff, Bluff and Clark streets.
Kansas Gas Service will also be replacing 780 bare steel natural gas distribution service lines and approximately 100 natural gas meters throughout the city. A standard meter replacement requires interruption of a customer’s natural gas service for approximately 20 minutes and access inside homes or businesses to properly relight appliances.
Customers affected by these projects will be notified by NPL Construction Company, the contractor assisting Kansas Gas Service, or by notice left at their home or business. NPL Construction Company will also provide a list of addresses that will be affected each week to the Augusta City Inspection Office. Company officials do not anticipate any major interruption to traffic flow.
The contractors performing the work will carry photo identification badges that identify them as working on behalf of Kansas Gas Service. Both projects are expected to be completed in four to six months.
