Shirley Ann Thomas, age 74, of Douglass, loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family present from 4 to 6 at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, 507 S. Maple, Douglass. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Douglass, 107 S. Maple, with interment to follow in Douglass Cemetery. Shirley was married to Bus Thomas Jan. 29, 1956 in Whitewater. She worked alongside Bus in several different grocery stores in Wichita and the Butler County area for many years before retiring. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Velma Erwin; husband, Bus Thomas; brothers, Charles and Leroy Erwin; and daughter-in-law, Liz Thomas. She is survived by her children, Robert Thomas of Dodge City, Chris (Rachel) Thomas of El Dorado, Kathleen Koepcke of Douglass and Cindy Abdallah of Wichita; grandchildren, Angela (Josh) Smith, Kara (Sami) Nabbout, Emily Abdallah, Adam Thomas, Renea Abdallah and Alex Abdallah; great-grandchildren, Kolten McConnell, Addyson Smith, Kinzleigh Smith and Jacob Orr; four step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandaughter; and sisters, Susan (Ralph) Ballinger, Bonnie (Rick) Rhodes and Darlene (Rod) Walford.
