Anna Hegenbart Misak, 67, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Misak grew up in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1963. She received a BS in education in 1967 from the University of Kansas where she was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Later, she earned a JD degree from KU in 1975, and a MA in psychology from the University of Houston at Victoria in 1991. She worked as an attorney in Lawrence, Orange, Texas, and Victoria, Texas. She subsequently worked as a therapist at Gulf Bend Mental Health Center in Victoria.
She is survived by her husband O. Robert Misak III of The Woodlands, Texas; children, Robert W. Misak (Toni) of Victoria, Carrie Misak Schultz (Mike) of Baton Rouge, La., and Andrew K. Misak of Overland Park; three grandchildren, Alexa, Sydney and William Misak of Victoria; sister, Leah Hegenbart Barr (Bill) of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Vera K. Needham of El Dorado; and step-mother, Rita R. Hegenbart of Emporia. She was predeceased by her parents, William F. Hegenbart and Jean Dunlevy Hegenbart of Emporia, and her father-in-law, Harlan S. Needham of El Dorado.
The family conducted a private memorial and in lieu of flowers, requests donations be made to the Houston PBS station or your local PBS station.
