Sharon Kay Dozier, a resident of Chapman, Kan., passed away at her home Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at the age of 69.
Sharon was born July 29, 1943 at El Dorado. Her parents were Joseph Elmer and Alma Marie Thompson Parry. She attended grade school in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1961. She attended El Dorado Junior College and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College with a teaching degree in 1965. She taught kindergarten at Leavenworth, and there she met and married Harlan Victor Dozier. They moved to rural Chapman, and she continued her teaching career in the Geary County School District as a substitute teacher and a paraprofessional. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor on Oct. 29, 1998. She retired from Jefferson Elementary in 2011 after 29 years in the school district.
She is survived by one son, Brian V. Dozier of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Amy K. Dozier of rural Wakefield, Kan., and Kari A Dozier of rural Chapman; one sister, Janice McClernon of Wichita; one brother, Don Parry of Waukee, Iowa; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor and her parents Joseph and Alma Parry.
A memorial service was held at the Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman on Sept. 15. The family had a private burial of the ashes. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dickinson County. Memorials may be sent in care of the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
