The United Way of El Dorado kicked off its 2012 campaign with a goal even higher than the $342,000 they raised last year. This year they are working to raise $375,000.
“We can do it, I know we can,” said Kristi Kloeblen, United Way executive director, after the campaign chair, Gail Gomez, announced the goal at the kick-off luncheon Tuesday.
“Look at all of the people we helped with the money we raised last year and think what we can do with $375,000,” Kloeblen said.
This also is the 125th anniversary of United Way.
“It’s amazing to think United Way has helped people for 125 years,” she said.
They were run under different names in the early years, including Community Chest, but they were always there to meet the needs in communities.
“We’re excited for this year,” Kloeblen said. “We have a very strong goal. “It’s each and every one of you. We all make a difference. Every penny counts.”
The campaign will wrap up with an appreciation lunch to be held Dec. 6.
