Fire Department to host open house highlights.

Three event highlights

1 The El Dorado Fire Department will be holding its annual open house Sunday to kick off Fire Prevention Week next week. They will have educational opportunities for children and adults, putting an emphasis on fire prevention.

2 There will be balloons and popcorn, as well as pictures of fire trucks and gear for the kids. There also will be activity tables for the kids to draw home escape plans, as well as some demonstrations in which the kids can participate. Fire Pup also will be there for pictures with the kids.

3 The event will include a free hot dog lunch for the first 200 people. For the adults there will be information booths, and they will have drawings for a fire extinguisher, smoke detector and emergency storm alert radio. The Masonic Lodge will also be there for with their Child ID system.

Why you should attend

“It allows the opportunity for the community and the kids to come in to see the fire station. Often times people in the general public only see us in a time of emergency. This allows them to come in to our place of work, see the fire trucks and be thinking about fire safety.”
