  • Many people are stalked by monsters in their nightmares, but participants in the 1st Annual Monster Run will be stalked by them during their waking life.
On Oct. 5, the 4 mile Monster Run kicks off and finishes at El Dorado State Park.
After the 7:30 p.m. start time, participants chart a variety of terrains through the roads and woods, attempting to avoid lurking monsters, ghouls and certain death.
Hordes of terrifying creatures will attempt to “kill” participants by dousing them with bloody water pistols.
Awards will be presented to “The Living” and “The Dead,” and tired participants can kick back in the park’s amphitheater for snacks and a horror movie screening.
Race packet pickup and race day registration begin at 6 p.m., and runners, walkers, zombies, ghosts, vampires, etc. are encouraged to wear costumes.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the El Dorado High School Drama Club and the Butler Community College theatre department.
