Both team pulled out all the stops for this one. That included a bench-clearing Hail Mary pass attempt before halftime that had more than 70 athletes on the field at once, as well as a pass attempt by...a referee?

Thursday night's fifth annual Powder Puff girls football game between the seniors and the underclassmen had trick plays, cheating, backup substitute replacement referees and plenty of excitement. It also had a contrast in styles; the seniors had a power running game while the underclassmen were passing the ball all over the field.

In the end, the underclassmen were no match for the seniors. Kalie Robinson, who probably would've been named MVP if there was an award, ran for more than 100 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the seniors to a 30-12 victory.

The seniors' opening drive ended badly when they tried one of the few pass attempts of the night. That's when Kylie Wesbrooks made an interception for the underclassmen. Casady Marlnee made one of her several receptions on the ensuing drive, and Morgan Kirk later made a big catch. But Madie Becker made a deflection and the seniors got turnover on downs.

Cassidy Wheatley made an incredible diving tackle to save what would've been an 80-yard run by Robinson. But Destiny Williams had a big run to get the seniors inside the 10, and Robinson capped the drive for a touchdown and a 6-0 lead. The seniors were flagged for excessive celebration on the play as the referee unfortunately demonstrated their dance moves.

Katy Nordman made a reception, then ran upfield despite one of her shoes falling off. Marlnee made two more catches on the drive, and Nordman made an incredible catch in the end zone to tie the game 6-6.

The seniors took full control after that. Robinson and Courtney Phillips were too strong of a 1-2 combination. They ran every which way before Robinson scored her second touchdown from six yards out.

Taylor Childers was the defensive player of the game. She made six tackles for a loss, including one on fourth down.

Jenna Lynch broke several tackles on a big run, but that was after the referees had her hide her flags so no one could grab them. Senior coach Colby Willis later tried to sneak in for a run, but was flagged down, then promptly frisked.

Phillips ended the drive with a touchdown run to give the seniors an 18-6 lead, though there was some controversy on the play that led to some ejections. Robinson ended the next drive with her third score, after which she and her teammates promptly celebrated by Tebowing.

Nordman scored another touchdown on a pass from Brooke Eberhardt for the underclassmen to cut it to 24-12. Wesbrooks later came down with a second interception.

Lynch made a nice interception, then scored a rushing touchdown to ice the game. After the win, the seniors raced up the hill to ring the AHS bell in winning tradition.
