  • Earnestine Sutter “Mickey” Gibb, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, Kan.
    She was born on May 2, 1919 in Butler County, the daughter of Earnest and Alice Sutter. She was a resident of Hutchinson, but spent most of her life in Leon. Mickey attended K-State and was an active member of Alpha Xi Delta. She completed her degree in home economics and began her teaching career at Matfield Green. She continued her career in the Leon Schools where she not only taught home economics in the high school, but also taught language arts in the middle school. On June 1, 1986, she retired.
    On June 3, 1944, she was married to James Walter Gibb in Wichita. He departed this life in 2007.
    Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jill Gibb of Topeka; daughter, Jill Gibb of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Tonya Dugan; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Kelly.
    She was preceded in death by her four sisters: Lizzie Seward, Ina Stitt, Bess Dice and Marion Blue.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
