Melvin Eugene Wolf, 91, passed away Sunday, Sept 23. Melvin was born April 5, 1921, to Everett and Alpha Wolf in Rocky Ford, Colo. He graduated from Arkansas City High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Willa Mae Hendrix on Oct. 17, 1981, in Arkansas City. She preceded him in death. Melvin was a carpenter, and worked as a machinist for Beechcraft and Boeing. After retirement he became an Augusta Wal-Mart greeter. He sold popcorn at the entrance of the store, therefore known as “The Popcorn Man.” Melvin attended First Baptist Church and was a Mason and an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His survivors include: his sons, Darrell (Mary) Wolf of Jackson, Mo., Lee Roy (Tiffany) Wolf of Leon, Lyle (Kelli) Wolf of Rose Hill, and Bill (Kathy) Wolf of Towanda; daughter, Nancy Shackelford of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Claude Wolf of Salina; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation with family greeting friends will follow from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, all at Dunsford Funeral Home.
