  • Frontier Miss Teen Sierra Bonn, of El Dorado, will be seeking another crown soon.
Bonn will be competing for Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen 2013 as Miss Frontier's "Outstanding Teen."
According to the MissKansas.org Web site, "Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen is the Official State Teen Pageant of the Miss Kansas Organization."
"I am really looking forward to getting more experience being in pageants," Bonn said. "I really like meeting new friends."
She has been in the Miss Frontier Pageant in 2010 and 2012.
"I liked that it definitely wasn't like Toddlers and Tiaras," she said of the Miss Frontier pageant. "I liked getting to know all of the girls and getting to perform on stage."
In continuing her reign as Miss Frontier, Bonn is working on her platform, which is "Girl Scouts: Creating Girls of Courage, Confidence and Character Who Make the World a Better Place."
"I am in the process of starting my Gold Award project with Girl Scouts," she said.
That project, which has to be approved by the council, requires 50 hours of community service.
Bonn has been a Girl Scout for 10 years, which has provided a variety of opportunities for community service.
In addition, she is working to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network, which is the organization the Miss America Outstanding Teen supports. Anyone wanting to donate can go to maoteen4kids.org and type in Bonn's name. They will be taken to her page where they can make a donation.
To prepare for the Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen Pageant she also is watching the news and doing mock interviews with her mother on current topics and topics relevant to teens, as well as practicing her violin, which she performs for the talent part of the competition.
The purpose of the Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen program is to provide an opportunity for teens to win scholarships, develop poise, confidence, stage presence, enhance interview skills and speaking ability. Young ladies will also gain knowledge about volunteerism, leadership and community service.
In addition to attending El Dorado High School, Bonn is taking classes at Butler Community College and participating in Youth Leadership Butler, a leadership program designed to help the youth in Butler County "be aware of the opportunities they have to be a force in their communities and their schools."
