Charles William Remmert, 80, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Lake Point Nursing Center. Visitation with the family present will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside services at Sunset Lawns Cemetery will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Charles was born on Dec. 8, 1931 in El Dorado. He was the son of Bert C. and Elsie Jane Remmert of El Dorado, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. In civilian life he worked for Fina Oil Company, Pester Oil Refinery from which he retired. He was a member of the Kansas American Legion, VFW, and Masons. Charles was best known for volunteering his homemade grill and time to cook for the Little League Football and activites/ sport events at Butler Community College. Children of all ages referred to him affectionately as “Grandpa.”
He is survived by three children, Tom Remmert, Gayle White and husband Bill of Bentonville, and James Remmert and wife Betty of El Dorado; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Noll of El Dorado; nephew, Jack Noll; and niece Karen Hasting and Linda Fischetti and their families.
