“Help Us Help Education” is the theme for the Partners in Education Spooktacular 5K Trail run and/or one mile walk on Oct. 27.

It is an event where people can come together to have fun and benefit PIE. Last year they saw a great turnout and expect more participants this year.

Walters’ Pumpkin Patch will host the event and after the race participants can enjoy, with their families, a day looking at the variety of pumpkins, gourds and squash, as well as enjoying the corn maze, wagon rides, pedal cars, boats and gift shop. Half price admission will be offered to racing participants.

Oct. 5 is the deadline for early registration. Entry fee for the 5K is $25 and $30 after the deadline.

Early packet pick-up for the 5K will be held Oct. 25 and 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Partners in Education office, 124 W. Central.

On the day of the race, registration/packet pick up will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Included in the packet is a numbered “bib” chip used for timing and a long sleeved dry-fit t-shirt for those pre-registered.

Registration for the 1 mile walk/run is from 7 to 8:45 a.m. Entry fee is $5. Prizes will be awarded per participant drawing. Bagels, fruit and drinks will be provided.

The 5K start time is 8 a.m. and the walk/run starts at 9.

Online registration is available at www.eldoradoschools.org/local/PIEfoundation. Credit cards are accepted.

Prize money of $100 and a gift certificate for shoes at Go Run will go to the top female and male winner. Second place will receive $50 and third place $25.

Medals will be given to the top three female and male finishers per age bracket.

Art of Life Chiropractic will have a massage therapist to help participants warm up or cool down.

All runners and walkers in costume will be entered in a drawing at 8:45 a.m. in the pavilion.

There will be a brief awards ceremony immediately after the race.

Timing is provided by Patrick Todd, owner/operator of OZ Endurance.

The 5Krun/walk welcomes all participants, whether they are serious runners, casual joggers or families walking together.
