James E. "Jim" Braden, 72, of Augusta, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 in Wichita.
Memorial graveside 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at Conway Springs Cemetery, Conway Springs, Kan. A gathering and remembrance time will be at 2 p.m., following graveside, at the community center of Brookside Cottages in Augusta.
James was born in Salina, Kan. on May 22, 1940, to the late Edith Fay (Hankinson) Lowdermilk and Everett Virgil Braden. He was also preceded in death by his step father Lawrence "Pop" H. Lowdermilk; brothers, Richard "Dick" Braden and Robert "Bob" Lowdermilk.
James served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and he worked as an auto salesman for 35 years.
On Aug. 30, 1984 he married Mary Lou (Vancuren) Braden, in Wichita, who survives him.
He is also survived by: son, Daniel Braden (Donna) of Topeka; daughter, Sheri Alexander of Lawrence; stepsons, Darren Crafton (Tina) of Wichita, Donald Chandler (Tonya) of Rose Hill, and John Chandler of Westminster, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Ruckert of Ponca City, Okla.; sisters, Pat Ritchey of Salina, and Connie Menhusen of Wamego; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita.
