  • Carol D. Healy, 91, of Spring Hill, Kan., passed away Sept.r 12, 2012 at North Point Care Center in Paola. Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, PO Box 7, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com.
    Carol was born March 14, 1921, in Latham to Clifton and Cora (Buell) Healy. He grew up in Latham, graduated from El Dorado High School and then attended trade school. Carol married Ethel Mae Stull on Oct. 24, 1943 in El Dorado. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Benson. Carol worked for Boeing Aircraft as a tool designer until moving to Spring Hill in 1948. He spent some time farming and designed tools for Bendix, retiring in 1973. After retirement, Carol spent time fishing and camping with Ethel Mae. He was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and a Youth Group leader. Carol also served on the Spring Hill City Council, School Board, and Historical Society and was a member of the Spring Hill American Legion.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Mae; grandson, Nicholas Walters; sisters, Buellah Dimple, Carrie Evelyn and Bonnie Bess; and brother, Clifton Fitzroy. Carol is survived by children, Michelle and John Long of Belvue, Kan., Barbara and Jim Walters of Olathe, and Frank and Connie Healy of Spring Hill; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
