  • The El Dorado Community Concert Association will launch its 2012-2013, 75th Anniversary Concert Season with Daniel Rodriguez and his talented wife, soprano Marla Kavanaugh, at the El Dorado Middle School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Doors open at 6:30.
America’s Beloved Tenor, Rodriguez, was the New York City cop who helped bring the country an uplifting spirit of promise and hope with his stirring rendition of “God Bless America” after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Rodriguez has appeared on television’s The Late Show with David Letterman, Larry King Live, Live with Regis and Kelly and Oprah, among many other high profile events including the 2002 Winter Olympics, and a PBS Memorial Day Concert.
Accompanied by piano and bass, Rodriguez will be joined by Kavanaugh, from New Zealand, who won praise from San Francisco critics as “the voice of a sorrowing angel” for her poignant portrayal in “The Prince and the Pauper.” Their musical program will tell a beautiful story of how they met and include songs such as “And This Is My Beloved,” “Be My Love,” “Impossible Dream,” “One Hand One Heart,” “Stranger In Paradise” and others from musical theater and Broadway.
In appreciation of Rodriguez’s service as a police officer, The El Dorado Community Concert Association will honor local first responders, police, fire and EMS personnel and their families with complimentary admission and recognition at this concert.
Admission is by Season Ticket. Season Ticket prices are: Adults, $45; Students, $10; Family, $95 (parents/grandparents and children 18 and under); Single Family, $50 (single parent/grandparent and children 18 and under).
