Augusta's boys soccer team scored two goals within the first two minutes of Tuesday's home opener and never looked back.
Augusta's boys soccer team got off to a lightning quick start and romped Mulvane 7-0 for the Orioles' regular-season home opener Tuesday night for Youth Soccer Appreciation Night.
Brandon Denoncourt threw in a sideline pass to Corbin Murry, who beat the back line and kicked in an easy goal for a 1-0 lead. Not a minute later, Rob Winzer outraced Mulvane's defense to catch up with a lob pass, then booted it in from 10 yards out for a second goal.
Michael Albright scored on a header after Murry set him up with a perfect corner kick.
Mason Hiser scored the first of three goals with 20:05 left as he finished with a hat trick on the night. Hiser scored both Oriole goals in the second half, including one after receiving a line pass from Kyler Steinkamp that allowed Hiser to sprint downfield, cut back to the middle and tee off for a big shot and goal.
Steinkamp added a goal of his own on a nice touch shot as he lightly lobbed the ball over Mulvane's goalie's head for an easy score and a 5-0 lead.
Augusta, now 3-2 on the season, will host Winfield Thursday evening. Augusta stunned Winfield 2-1 in the season opener on the road.
