Augusta drops to 2-2 as it gets set for its home opener Tuesday, which also will be youth league appreciation night.

Augusta's boys soccer team came out on the short end of a physical, 7-1 loss to Maize South Saturday morning in the fifth-place game of the McPherson tournament. The officiating crew was without the center official for the entire game. Only two officials were present. The Orioles gave up four goals early in the first half. Coach Monty Rowland said the team played much better in the second half, but it lost that half 2-1. Rowland said the game was very physical. He said that Kyler Steinkamp got a little dinged up and had to leave the game. The Orioles will play their first home game of the season at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The team will have a youth league appreciation night. All kids who play on a youth league team will be able to get in the game for free. There will be hots dogs for those teams, as well. The youth players and teams that wish to be recognized will need to be on the field a little before 5:30 p.m.
