George Willard Gibson, 93, of Oklahoma City, died Monday, Sept 3 at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow in Towanda Cemetery.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1918 in Latham, the son of Ben and Anna (Brent) Gibson. Willard graduated from Benton High School in 1936 and had worked at Elreco, Fina and Pester Refineries in El Dorado. He lived in El Dorado for 60 years living also for 12 years in Oklahoma City and nine years in Brownwood, Texas. He was a long time member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He spent many summers in Estes Park, Colo. On Sept. 29, 1946 Willard and Jeanetta Mae Maus were married in El Dorado and celebrated 60 years of married life, before she preceded him in death on April 14, 2007.
Those who survive include: two sons, Roger Gibson of Waco, Texas, and Randy Gibson of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Kathy Lange of St. Louis, Mo., and Janet Waswo of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Jeff Lippert of San Jose, Calif., Hal and Adam Lange of St. Louis, Kristin Gibson of Glendale, Ariz., Eva and Lily Waswo of Oklahoma City; and three great-grandchildren, Emma and Abby Lippert and Alex Lange.
