In a special meeting Tuesday evening, the Augusta USD 402 Board of Education approved an agreement with the City Augusta to connect local public schools via fiber optics and communication cabling in city right-of-way and utility easements.
The project was defined as connecting Lincoln Elementary with Garfield Elementary, and will include installations adjacent to and under city streets and intersections.
The school district will be responsible for all costs pertaining to the project.
Also included at the special meeting was the board’s approval for a leave of absence for Karen McAnulty, Garfield kindergarten teacher. Board members also discussed board goals and strategies.
The next regular BOE meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10th.
