Butler Community College is opening its first exhibit at the Erman B. White Gallery Friday evening with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
The exhibit, titled "Angels and Butterflies – An Ode to Earthly Goddesses," features the photography of Dale Strattman, a professor of photography at Wichita State University.
"The photographs deal with the idea of the way we adore feminine beauty," said John Oehm, curator of the gallery.
It features photos Strattman has taken of public images such as billboards, posters and magazine covers in Europe, on the East Coast and some locally.
"It's just that adoration of the female form that is presented publicly," Oehm said.
This is a return visit for Strattman to the Erman B. White Gallery, having a piece in the "A Bridge Not Far" exhibit about a year ago.
"I also have seen Dale Strattman's photographs in other exhibits in Wichita," Oehm said. "He requested to have an exhibit here. Knowing he had quality work, I said yes."
Oehm didn't know exactly what the exhibit would be until it arrived.
The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 29. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
