Floyd A. Long, 90, of El Dorado and formerly of Benton, died Saturday, Aug. 25 at Lakepoint Nursing Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Benton Cemetery.
He was born on June 14, 1922 in Kechi, the son of Clinton and Goldie (Folk) Long. He graduated from Benton High School and then spent time in the U.S. Navy. He worked for a number years for Vulcan Chemical as a shipping clerk. He was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church; American Legion and enjoyed playing golf and going fishing. On Sept. 18, 1940 he was married to Jemima Grove in Salina.
Those who survive including his wife of the home are: two sisters, Fern Timmons of Augusta and Eunice Humbolt of Mulvane, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; and a sister, Beverly Spain.
