Sarah Wright has been an artist since her childhood in rural Butler County. But her spiritual walk has brought the focus of her art to Biblical themes.
"I sketch in church and later add paint to the pieces," she explained, "All them are centered on a Bible passage."
In 2002 the Bluestem High School graduate moved to Texas and life took her down some dark paths. She moved back to Augusta in 2010 and claims that God called her to paint. She began attending Life Church of Augusta, was baptized and began making changes in her life.
"The church is my inspiration and Paul and Laurie Andrews are two of my biggest supporters," Sarah said.
The public is invited to view and purchase Sarah's art at a public showing this weekend at Augusta's Open Arts Door, a fine arts studio & gallery at 709 State St.
Gallery owner Annette Boardman invites everyone to attend and celebrate Sarah's inspirational art from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, no one under 21 on Friday, as wine will be served; 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18.
