As the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex nears completion, plans are being finalized for the dedication celebration, which will be Sept. 1.
With the first event being a Butler Community Women's Soccer Game on Aug. 29 with free admission for donor day, the official celebration will follow on Sept. 1, including a variety of activities, including such things as face painting, music, presentations and more. Admission will be free to the special activities, but tickets are required for the football game.
The Educational Facilities Authority of Butler County discussed several items during their meeting this week. Among that was the donation of another $125,000 from BG Products for a third floor skybox so that can be completed. It will then be able to be purchased by another entity.
They also approved an insurance policy including liability and property and wanted to further look into directors and officers insurance.
Another topic of discussion was the procedures and scheduling set up for the sports complex.
The board was given a draft copy of the plan, which they will approve in September.
It included a lease addendum, with each partner being responsible for costs related to their events. It also allowed outside vendors to be brought in for events with certain conditions.
Another part of the plan addressed non-partner events, having the authority approve those.
As for utilities for the facility, USD 490 and Butler Community College agreed to split those, with trash provided by the city, as well as a discount on city-owned utilities.
Another aspect of the plan covered the facility usage policy and procedure and outlined fees for various uses, as well as guidelines for use of the skyboxes.
Before concluding their meeting they received an update on construction.
Vince Haines, with PKHLS Architects, told the group they were $122,000 to the good for the budget.
As for the construction schedule, Aug. 14 and 15 they will start a punch list for the items that need to be completed. The track and visitor bleachers will be signed off on in time for the first scrimmage. The home side stands and sky boxes will not be available until the 28th. Also on Aug. 23, they will host owner training for the three entities involved.
