A two-run rally in the bottom of the eighth allowed the Kansas Cannons to edge the North County (Calif.) Waves 6-5 in a Saturday elimination game at the NBC World Series.
Tory Stoffregen’s two-run home run highlighted a four-run first for Cannons, but that was the extent of their offense until the eighth.
North County sliced the four-run deficit in half with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Waves took the 5-4 lead on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
In the eighth, Josh Halbert’s third double of the game tied the score. He came across with the winning run on a two-out double by pinch-hitter Blaine Hashagen.
The game started about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, and ended about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. The Cannons will play at 5 p.m. Sunday against Impact Sports of Colorado.
