The Andover City Council authorized staff July 31 to change the Andover Industrial Park signage to read Andover Business Park.
Council Member Kris Estes commented that the word "industrial" has the wrong connotation of the park. She said "industrial" leads to a view of heavy manufacturing, whereas the businesses currently there are not industrial.
"I strongly support changing the name to the Andover Business Park," Estes said.
Council Member Caroline Hale said the area is more appropriately going to be a business park rather than industrial park.
"I would support and move that we allow the action group to go forward with having that signage changed to 'business park' and, of course, with the notification of all the tenants that are currently in the park," said Hale.
The City Council also:
* Approved four related vacation orders in Green Valley Greens contingent upon the review and approval of the affected utility providers.
* Approved an ordinance repealing and replacing ordinances 477 and 478 establishing procedures and fees to be charged to persons for accessing and/or copying open public records and revising the Code of the City of Andover, Article 1, Chapter 5, Administration.
