Beta Beta began their 2012-2013 year with a planning meeting held at Cedar Vale. Sue Friedel, who has lived in Andover and raised her kids here, grew up in Cedar Vale back when families and small town living was a way of life to a lot of people. She invited us to visit her hometown, so Beta Beta took a road trip this month and did just that.
It began with a first stop at Henry’s Candies in Dexter. This is a neat hidden secret to many, and their candies are delicious – as several of us left with bags of goodies.
Rita Baker, another Beta Beta member, grew up on a ranch near Sedan, so we made reservations at this wonderful café in Sedan and had a really delicious lunch, receiving great service and a friendly welcome, as the owner knew both Sue and Rita. A road trip is not complete without shopping, and several variety and gift shops provided us with some take-home treasures.
We finally made it to our final destination in Cedar Vale. It was at the home site of Sue’s favorite aunt, and what a delightful place it was. It bought back wonderful memoires to several of us, since the home was still decorated in a lot of its original ‘50s and ‘60s décor. After several hours of planning our meetings, socials and activities for the coming year, we ended with drinks and dessert.
Those attending were Rita Baker, Diane Brown, Beverly Burns, Jacque Ediger, Sue Friedel, Peggy Harrison, Paula Leatherman, Cindy Miller, Karen Osborne, Beth Pompa, Diane Stowell and Rowena Underwood.
