Another scorcher week is in store for our area.
A heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. this evening. However, with the hot temperatures forecast, a heat advisory of some sort may be extended. Heat indices of 105 degrees to 107 degrees are likely this afternoon, with the highest values expected around 4 p.m.
If precautions are not taken, those outside could suffer from heat exhaustion on even heat stroke. A slight chance of isolated rain is forecast through Tuesday night.
As a reminder, here are some precautionary/preparedness actions:
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Remember to take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency…call 911.
Temperatures within vehicles can become lethal in a few minutes. Never leave children or pets in vehicles.
