During a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, El Dorado City Commissioners discussed applications from community members who would like to be on the newly created Transitional Housing Task Force.

After reviewing several applications, the commissioners agreed to formally approve the appointments during their next regular meeting.

City Manager Herb Llewellyn told the commissioners he believes land usage in the city will be the first topic of discussion for the task force.

“Then we need to talk about what services are currently offered and who is doing that,” said Llewellyn. “Then we need to look at what needs to happen.”

The Transitional Housing Task Force’s first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Aug. 9 at City Hall.

In other business Wednesday, the commission discussed a recommendation for the use of the building donated by BG Products.

The site suggested was on Oil Hill Road north of Hogoboom Trucking.

The location was also endorsed by the El Dorado, Inc. board of directors.

The commissioners also received 2013 budget presentations from staff members Wednesday afternoon.
