On the schedule, Tuesday night's game between the Kansas Cannons and the Topeka Golden Giants in the Mid-Kansas Collegiate Qualifier was the winner's bracket finals. But in reality, it was the championship game, which the Cannons won 11-8.
The tournament was cut short one night because of the weather and travel expenses. By mutual agreement, the Cannons and Golden Giants played a one-and-done championship game to end the tournament.
Both teams had already qualified for the upcoming NBC World Series, July 28 through Aug. 11.
The Cannons' first game is Sunday, July 29, at an as-yet undetermined time.
