John Francis Meyers II, 79, of El Dorado, died July 19, 2012. The celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 17, 1932 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John Francis and Dera Maude (Cooper) Meyers. From 1988 until 1995 he lived in El Dorado and was the Managing Director of the El Dorado Times. He loved to travel and sail the world with his partner Alfreda Seeber. They lived on a boat for three years and traveled in their motor home for 10 years. He was wounded while serving in the Army Airborne in Korea. John loved to skydive, fly, river raft and travel. He loved life.
Surviving family include: his partner, Alfreda of the home; sons, John Francis III of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill and wife Carol of St. Joseph, Mo., Jay Meyers of Edgerton, Mo., and Karl Meyers of St. Joseph; daughter, Cheryl and John Burns of Wichita; brother, Charles (Linda) Meyers of Muskegon, Mich.; sister, Jeanne Mooberry of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
