  • TCU offensive guard Blaize Foltz has been named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy, recognizing the top interior lineman in college football.
The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third-oldest award in major college football. It is named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the century. Foltz also appeared on the watch list for the 2012 Rotary Lombardi Award, presented to college football's top lineman or linebacker.
The Horned Frogs have had a Rotary Lombardi Award finalist in two of the last three seasons (Jerry Hughes, 2009; Jake Kirkpatrick, 2010).  Foltz was a first-team all-conference selection last season. With his bench press of 590 pounds and squat of 800 pounds, Foltz was named to "The Freak List: The 10 craziest athletes in college football" by Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com.
A senior from Rose Hill, Kan., Foltz appeared on the Yahoo! Sports All-Bowl Team last season for his performance in the Horned Frogs' Poinsettia Bowl victory over Louisiana Tech.
Foltz also was named to the Athlon Sports, Phil Steele’s Football Magazine and Lindsey’s Football Magazine’s 2012 Pre-Season All Big 12 Teams.  In addition Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine named him 1st Team All-Texas for 2012.  Blaize will also represent TCU on Big 12 Media Day in Dallas on July 23rd showing on Fox Sports. Blaize has earned his undergraduate degree from TCU and will finish his college football career this fall in graduate school at TCU.  His brother and former Rocket
Another former Rocket, Brady Foltz, will be playing offensive guard at TCU this fall as a red-shirt freshman this season as he has worked his way up the depth chart since fall 2011.
