  • Augusta wrestlers have had success throughout the summer traveling to various tournaments.
Their most recent trip was to the UNK wrestling camp, featuring teams from Kansas and Nebraska (and one Colorado team). A total of 32 teams competed in pool play, then a bracket-style tournament.
Augusta proved to be one of the best teams, finishing 2-2 in pool play, but going 5-1 in the tournament and taking third place overall.
In pool play, Augusta beat Millard North and Russel, Kan., and lost to Plattsmouth, Neb., and Papilion La Vista, Neb.
During bracket competition, the Orioles beat Colby, then Elkorn South for its first two wins. The Orioles then lost to a combined team of Med Valley and Sutherland, Neb. In the consolation bracket, The Orioles beat Rawlings County, then defeated Tonganoxie in a close match 36-33 to take third place.
Several Orioles had standout performances, including Nathan Moore and Jacob Goldenstein. Moore was recognized as the LTG—Legitimate Tough Guy—for Augusta. Goldenstein went undefeated the entire camp, both in pool play and bracket competition.
