Officers from the Andover Police Department executed a search warrant at a home in the 1200 block of Main, Andover, the afternoon of Friday, June 8, 2012.
During the search of the home, officers discovered more than two pounds of marijuana and more than $5,000 in cash, along with other drug paraphernalia.
The search warrant was the result of a two-month investigation. Police believe a man living at the home had been selling marijuana in the Andover area for quite some time.
The department did not make any arrests and plans to submit reports to the Office of the County Attorney sometime this week requesting prosecution against the man.
The man could face felony charges of distribution of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to pay the state’s drug tax.
“This was the result of some very good police work by some very dedicated officers,” Andover Police Chief Michael Keller said of the search warrant and drug bust.
Police officials encourage anyone with information regarding drug activity to contact either the department at 316-733-5177 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 800-KSCRIME.
