Trey Hayden had not one, but two, memorable moments this past Sunday,?June 3.
Hayden, who is a former standout for the Orioles golf team, nailed his first hole-in-one shot at the Augusta Country Club. He made the 157-yard shot with a 9-iron on hole 17. Witnesses were Kevin Hayden, Todd Gilmore, Jim Keller, Bill Richey and Glen Barnum.
For Hayden, it was an excitable moment. After all, it was his first-ever hole in one.
But later that day, Hayden got even more excited when Tiger Woods hit the extraordinary chip-in shot on hole 16 on way to his dramatic win at Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial golf meet in Dublin, Ohio. Hayden, a big fan of Tiger’s, admitted he even gave one of Tiger’s patented fist pumps after the shot.
Hayden has enjoyed a successful freshman season as a member of the Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team. Hayden  took seventh overall at the Jayhawk Conference meet and earned a Second Team All-Conference honor. He finished in the top 10 in four of the five conference meets he played this season. He tied for seventh at the Salina Municipal course, tied for eighth at Hesston, tied for second at Emporia and tied for fifth at the Salina Country Club.
Hutchinson took second as a team in the conference behind Dodge City. Hayden and the Blue Dragons competed at the  NJCAA?Div. I national championship. The Blue Dragons took 13th out of 23 teams.
During his senior year at AHS, Hayden at one point won three meets in a row and took eighth place at the Class 4A state golf meet.
